Who said you can
take the girl out of Brampton but not take Brampton out of the girl?
And can this really
be considered a feat when, after all, people have learned to walk and chew gum
at the same time?
While Tracy
Dawson is no stranger to parading successful solo comedy pieces, Them
& Us is the Second City alumnist’s first full length play featuring
burlesque vignettes with four actors taking on 30 different characters.
The comic tragedy
vehicle is sexy, raunchy, and painfully honest. All of which is aimed at helping
men and women understand the opposite sex by meditating on the difficulties and
hilarity of trying to love.
Dawson, who cites
Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Diane Keaton as bold inspirations that
taught her to push the boundaries of silliness, thinks it’s high time that
people address the issues surrounding love, relationships, the inability to
connect, as well as the heartbreak and humour that go along with it.
So if you never
thought that a facetious femme fatale from north of Highway 407 and west of
Highway 410 could rightfully land herself a gig on Ryerson Avenue and make us
take a long, hard look in the mirror, it’s wisely suggested that you think
again!
Tracy Dawson
is the real deal. Them & Us is the real message.
