Playwright
Fenulla
Jiwani’s well
written and delightful anecdotes give audiences a one-hour and forty
minute glimpse into the endeavors of finding that perfect match.
Adding to the story, Jiwani touches on South
Asian cultural pressures to get married and questions if there`s even
a Mr. Right out there.
This
amiable and buoyant production benefits from its stellar ensemble.
Each of the six
male actors plays out several different characters. From the
emotionally stunted to the romantically oblivious, these dates can
have the most optimistic person turn skeptical and bitter.
But
it`s through talented acting that make the roles engaging, offering
us insights and sharing stories that are so instantly recognizable.
Husein
Madhavji
endears the crowd as he sings a ballad hitting all the right notes,
while Danya
Nearon shows
range with his many accents. The cast display a wry and entertaining
presence.
Whether,
these dates are an embellishment of sorts or not, Fenulla
Jiwani (Priti)
offers
sharp-eyed commentary on the state of finding a meaningful
relationship. It`s with warmth and a sense of familiarity that
Priti`s quest to find a husband becomes occasionally piercingly
perceptive.
In
an age of cyber-dating, on-line romances, books on the subject, tips,
guidelines, rules and advice, meeting the right person can sometimes
prove challenging. However if you can weed through the chaos, this
delightfully, charming and enjoyable show is a must see.
